The single-track Wendlinger Kurve is part of the Stuttgart 21 project and creates a connection between the new railroad infrastructure from and to Stuttgart and the Neckartalbahn, which runs from and to Metzingen, Reutlingen and Tübingen. A second track, the “Große Wendlinger Kurve”, was planned as an option and later commissioned by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Transport due to the expected traffic benefits.
The faculty's Institute of Geotechnical Engineering (IGS) was on site on January 4, 2024 with a group of students from the Master's module "Geomesstechnik" (Geomeasurement Technology) and had the exciting opportunity to witness a suitability test being carried out on permanent anchors.
